Federation CJA’s YAD Montreal celebrates the Second Annual Family Fitness Day

On Sunday, May 4 Federation CJA’s YAD Montreal celebrated family health and wellness at the Second Annual Family Fitness Day. Held at the YM-YWHA on Westbury, the event featured a wide range of sporting events and activities for the whole family including basketball, relay races, arts & crafts, crossfit, dance classes, football, baseball, soccer and face painting.

Kids of all ages enjoyed dance classes held by Tyler Anne Dance School.

Over 250 people attended the event, with children ranging in age from 12 months to 15 years old. Throughout the day kids gobbled up pizza and snacks, while parents were particularly enthused by the delicious treats provided by YEH yogurt.

Tyler Anne Dance School held dance classes, UPT Crossfit was on hand to do crossfit, and Kidz n’ Motion had sports stations while the “Y” brought along instructors for various activities and coaches from their Wolves Basketball program in what was the perfect venue for this event.

Camp B'nai Brith and Y Country Camp staff volunteered to do arts and crafts and sports with the kids in attendance.

While the theme of the day was a celebration of all things fit and family, a charitable undercurrent bolstered the spirit of the event; along with their game faces, families were asked to bring any gently used winter outerwear that their children have outgrown to be donated to a child in need.

“Family Fitness Day is such a fun event with so many activities for kids, keeping them busy, running around, having fun, learning and staying active,” said co-chair, Cara Backman. “This is a great community event supporting an important cause!” Audrey Amzallag, Elizabeth Horne and Lindsey Mendell who also co-chaired this event were in full agreement!
