Montreal Mega Mission participants visit Beer Sheva

The Montreal Jewish Community has strong ties to Beer Sheva and the entire Bnei Shimon region – in fact, Montreal and Beer Sheva are sister cities.

On May 20th, Montreal Mega Mission participants visited Montreal’s sister city of Beer Sheva and the region of Bnei Shimon to see firsthand the work done on the ground.

We at Federation CJA are proud to have forged a strong partnership with Beer Sheva and Bnei Shimon, a relationship that dates back to 1988. Federation CJA has worked with the Jewish Federations of Canada-UIA, the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), Keren Hayesod (KH) and with officials and volunteers in changing the very landscape of the Negev. We have invested in people, programs and initiatives with the dual objectives of ensuring Jewish vibrancy and a strong Jewish future in Israel, and strengthening our own Jewish identity here at home.

The Montreal Jewish community has played a role in changing the very landscape of the Negev by supporting projects that meet seven key strategic priorities:

  • Supporting Youth & Families at Risk
  • Enhancing Jewish Identity
  • Furthering Israel Education & Engagement
  • Attracting Population & Population Retention
  • Promoting Tolerance & Co-existence
  • Developing People-to-People Connections
  • Capital Projects
